How’s your Mindset?

How’s your mindset? Do you try to be positive or are you more of a negative Nelly?

All my life I’ve always tried to have a positive outlook. Even when situations in my life looked it’s worst, I’d push through until I came out on the positive side of it. This mindset has helped get me through numerous losses of loved ones and jobs and disappointments in people and situations.

Until recently though. In the past few years, I’ve battled depression, lack of self-confidence, fear of losing everything, the loss of direction and finally, forgetting who I am in my soul. After years of being the caregiver for everyone else I forgot to take care of me. Now that I no longer am in that role, I’m finally able to do the things I’ve always wanted to do.

Trouble is, I don’t know what that is anymore. At one time I thought I wanted to be an artist, then it was to be a blogger and then it was to be a famous baker then a best selling author and then .. and then…

You see, I wasn’t taking the time to connect with my soul. I was allowing outside forces (financial as well as people) to dictate what I should be doing.

I’ve been reading a lot of books, connecting with some very good life coaches and spending time out in nature that’s been helping me reconnect with my true self. I’ve also taken charge of my self-care by eating healthy. Another activity that’s helping me is changing my mindset back to the positive one I’ve always had.

I’ve started using affirmations and meditation more and more. Whenever I catch myself getting depressed or having negative thoughts, I give myself a mental scolding and change those thoughts to positive ones. Here are a some of the affirmations I tell myself are:

I am strong

I am confident

I am brave

I am beautiful

I am creative

I am an artist

I am moving forward

Today is a new day.

I am blessed.

I am grateful for all that I have at this moment

I am becoming who I dream I am

I am evolving

As I said earlier, one of the things I’m incorporating in my life is to be more vigilant in taking care of myself.  I have just opened up a new 5-day email workshop on simple ways to you can begin taking care of yourself. During this workshop we will work on five areas of your life: your health, your mindset, body, stress management, and personal growth. Interested?
