Creating Your Book: How to Find Time For Writing

Creating your book manuscript  involves taking the time to do the writing. That means, for me, to set aside time every day to do some daily writing on the book. In this post, I mentioned I was starting my kindle publishing career with a short story.

While I am determined to get a book published I have been following along with Geoff Shaw’s Kindling course, so writing daily is necessary to have a book I can publish soon.

It’s coming along. I have tried to write at least  700 words a day. Some days it’s been less some days more but I hope, barring no major interruptions, I will have the first draft finished by weekend.

This becoming a published author is both exciting and scary.

Finding the time to write for myself, has been a little tricky.

Here are a few tips to help you find a few extra hours a week.

Wake up an hour earlier or stay up a hour later. This doesn’t work for me since my day already starts at 5 am and doesn’t end until 10 pm. I have to have at least 7  hours of sleep just to function.

Write while waiting at appointments. this is great for doctor visits and hair salons. While waiting for my mom at her recent doctor visit, I managed to get over a 1000 words written while I was waiting.

Hire someone to do the housework or leave the majority of the cleaning for one day a week. The dishes, of course will need to be washed. But you can leave the dusting and vacuuming, and the toys lying around for a few days.

Make a point to put it in your daily schedule. This one I do. I schedule my writing from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. every morning before the household gets moving too much.
